Welcome From The Principal

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Welcome to Sacred Heart Primary School (Presentation Primary). Whether you are an established family, a new parent or a passing visitor, I hope that you will find something of interest within our school website. The aim of the website is to give you information about the school, the curriculum and the activities we have on offer.

We in Sacred Heart Primary School seek to cherish and challenge children in a safe, secure and attractive learning environment. We are fortunate to have a dedicated and supportive Board of Management and Parents’ Association in our school. We have a highly committed staff, who give of their best to enable our children to achieve their full potential in work, play and spiritual development.

John Hickey,Principal.

Our School

In Sacred Heart Primary we aim to provide quality learning experiences that are engaging, enriching and enjoyable through a broad, balanced and relevant curriculum. In addition to the core curriculum our pupils engage in a wide range of extra activities and programmes.

Active School

The Active School Flag was launched by the Department of Education & Skills in 2009. It is a non-competitive initiative which seeks to recognise schools (both primary and post primary) that strive to achieve a physically active and physically educated school community.

Physical Education and Sports

All of our children engage in a lively and varied Physical Education Programme which is part of the Primary School Curriculum. The whole school community is made aware of the importance of physical exercise and healthy lifestyles are encouraged.

Green School Programme

“Green-Schools” is the Irish Branch of an international environmental education programme known as eco-schools. It is designed to raise children’s awareness of environmental and sustainable development issues through classroom study. Eco-Schools is run by the Foundation for Environmental Education, an organisation founded in 1981 to raise awareness of environmental issues and effect change through education.

The Creative Arts

The experience of art is, above all, a source of much enjoyment and fulfilment that can add enormously to the richness of children’s lives and experience.
