History

Our History

Sacred Heart Primary School is situated on the grounds of the Presentation Sister’s Convent and St. John’s church on Castle Street, Tralee. The Presentation order have been delivering quality education in Tralee for over 200 years (see Sacred Heart Primary School- A Brief History). The school is comprised of the junior building: a listed building dating from the 1930s, as well as the senior building: built in the 1960s. The school has an enrolment of 280 pupils in 12 mainstream classes. There is a teaching staff of 18 and an administrative principal, along with 3 special needs assistants. 

 

The campus incorporates two buildings, two school yards with basketball courts, a school halla with stage, a library, a music room, a computer lab, a sensory room, a language/Aistear room for junior classes, a cookery/parent’s room, a soft outdoor play area, as well as an outdoor classroom/creative space. The secretary’s office and principal’s office are located in the junior building on the left as you enter through Green lane (signposted ‘Reception’). 

 

The school is located right at the heart of Tralee and is walking distance from the town park, library, town centre and other amenities. There is ease of access through St. John’s church entrance and Green Lane. A one-way system (enter by St. John’s church) operates from 8 am to 9 am and 2 pm to 3 pm on school days.  There is onsite parking in front of the halla
