School Band

Our School Choir comprises our fifth and sixth class girls. We take part in a range of school, liturgical and community events. We have won many prizes in the past in Scór na bPáistí, Slógadh, Pan Ceilteach and feiseanna. We have participated in Cór Fhéile na Scoile in Kerry and Cork (as invited guests). We have performed with Liam Lawton, The Irish Sopranos, Kerry Choral Union and Tralee Chamber Choir. We have composed many songs that have been aired on local radio stations. Our “Star Rap” (sung with Kieran Donaghy) was played by Eoghan Mc Dermot on 2FM and also featured on JOE.ie. A song we composed for Seachtain na Gaeilge, “Cén Fáth” won a national competition and funding to enhance music education in our school, while another composition, “This is My Island” made it to the All-Ireland final of “Song for ‘16” in the National Concert Hall in Dublin. We have also produced and launched CDs.

Our School Band comprises children who play a range of instruments, namely accordian, concertina, tin whistle, recorder, flute, fiddle, ukulele, keyboard, drums and percussion. Our musicians participate in school, liturgical and community events and have won prizes in the music category of the St. Patrick’s Day Parade.
