Outdoor Classroom and Creative Space

The school is very excited about the new Outdoor Classroom and Creative Space which has been built on the grounds in front of the senior building. The space comprises a stage area, an outdoor class including blackboard and seats, raised beds for growing fruit and vegetables, and a sensory garden. The school is very grateful for funding received through the Kerry Local Creative Youth Partnership (KLCYP). This joint venture with KLCYP is ongoing and it is hoped that children from this school, as well as girls from Presentation Secondary School, will work on elements of the garden (seating, beds, outdoor musical instruments) in the future. It had been intended to get children out working on the project this year but this could not happen due to COVID-19.

This outdoor classroom is a community space and we look forward to welcoming parents, grandparents and other community members to visit and work alongside the children. If you have any suggestions or ideas on ways to enhance the space, please let us know.
