Presentation Primary School presents the school song “Fight Another Day” as an expression of the children’s experience of the pandemic.

Dear Parents/Guardians

In order to address children’s wellbeing after lockdown, we engaged the services of the Innabubble Theatre Company to create an online Creative Wellbeing programme from Junior Infants to Second.

We looked at engaging our senior pupils in a project to express their thoughts and feelings about the pandemic and how it has affected them. From 3rd class to 6th, they chose to compose a song. The pupils wrote lyrics and melodies which evolved into a song entitled, “Fight Another Day”. They expressed a wish to record their song to raise funds for a local charity organisation. While the school generally fund-raises for the school only, we made an exception on this occasion. After some discussion, they chose Kerry Adolescent Counselling Service (KACS).

There will be an audio and video recording of the song: senior pupils will sing the song and every class will feature in the music video. We request that every family makes a donation of 5 euro (anything more would be very favourably received and appreciated), in order to receive both a video and audio recording of the song. Each family will receive a brown envelope tomorrow (Friday). You can put your donation in the envelope and seal it. You do not have to put your name on the envelope. This ensures that your donation remains anonymous. We would ask you to please return it to your child’s teacher by Thursday, June 10th. We are seeking contributions ahead of recording to ensure we don’t run out of time before the end of the year!!! A cheque will be presented to KACS on behalf of the staff, pupils and parents of Presentation Primary school.

The recording will take place next Thursday, June 10th. All children can dress up for the occasion. We would urge you to ensure your child is in school that day so that he/she doesn’t miss out on this momentous opportunity. We are very proud of all our students and are looking forward to showcasing their creativity and hard work on this project. Children will be sent the audio and video of the song virtually when ready. We thank you sincerely in advance for your continued support.
